James getting ready for his first field trip. He left the NICU for the first time to have some tests done on his tummy.
In honor of Dr. Seuss‘ birthday tomorrow, I thought I’d share a very Cat-In-the-Hat looking James. Shortly after we took this photo James left the NICU for the first time. He was finally stable enough to have tests done on his tummy so we could find out why it was so big and blue. James would have surgery less than a week later to repair a perforated bowel and remove 5 centimeters of his intestine that had grown together. Lots of tears as we watched him being wheeled away from his safe little ‘home’ where we knew what to expect, heading out into the unknown. I’m sure it’s a feeling we’ll experience for years to come as we watch James and see all the places he’ll go.
Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away! …So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. …And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.) KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!
Oh yes! The places James will go, and the things James will do!!!! Just wait and see!!! And yes, James was sporting the Cat in the Hat theme!!! Love it!!!! Thanks for sharing him!!!!!
So thankful for his hat that day. So silly, but it gave us an outlet to smile even though we were feeling really scared.
Thanks for keeping up with him!
